Decorative Concrete built to last

Stamped decorative concrete

Decorative concrete gets you the look of stone, brick, or slate without the cost of installing those materials piece by piece — and it starts as the same pour as any other slab.

We install stamped, colored, and exposed-aggregate concrete for driveways, patios, walkways, and pool decks in High Point and nearby towns. Each finish starts with the same base prep and pour as standard concrete — the difference comes after, when we stamp a pattern into the surface, work color into or onto the concrete, or wash away the top layer to expose the stone underneath. We’ll show you pattern and color samples before anything is poured.

Stamped concrete

Stamped concrete is pressed with patterned mats while it’s still workable, then colored and sealed. It gives the look of slate, stone, brick or wood without the joints between pavers where weeds and ants move in.

We’ll show you patterns and color samples before anything is poured.

Colored and exposed-aggregate concrete

Integral color runs all the way through the slab. Exposed aggregate washes the top layer away to show the stone underneath, giving a textured, slip-resistant surface that works well around pools.

What to expect with decorative concrete work

Decorative work follows the same start as any pour — excavation, base, forms — but the finishing takes longer. While the concrete is still workable, we press in the pattern or apply color, then detail the edges and joints by hand before sealing. Expect the crew on site a bit longer than for a plain finish of the same size.

  • Base prepared the same as standard concrete
  • Pattern and color chosen before the pour
  • Stamping and detailing done while workable
  • Sealed to protect the finish

Types of decorative concrete work

Decorative concrete covers a few different techniques, and they can be combined — here’s how each one works on its own.

  • Stamped concrete

Stamped concrete uses textured mats pressed into the surface while it’s workable, then colored and sealed. It’s the option most people picture when they think of decorative concrete, and it works well for patios, driveways, and pool decks.

  • Colored concrete

Colored concrete uses an integral color mixed in before the pour, or a surface hardener applied after, for an even tone throughout the slab. It’s a lower-cost way to add visual interest without a full stamped pattern.

  • Exposed aggregate

Exposed aggregate washes away the top layer of concrete to reveal the stone mixed into it, giving a naturally textured, slip-resistant surface. It’s a popular choice around pools for that reason.

Decorative finishes compared

Here’s how the three main decorative finishes compare on cost, look, and the upkeep each one needs over time.

FinishRelative CostBest ForMaintenance

Colored$$Adding tone without a full patternReseal periodically
Exposed aggregate$$Pool decks, slip-resistant areasOccasional cleaning, light resealing

A standard broom finish is the most affordable and gives good traction for driveways and walks. Stamped concrete costs more but gives the look of slate, stone or brick, and is popular for patios. We’ll walk you through samples and pricing for both.

Yes, decorative concrete keeps its color and protection longer when it’s resealed periodically. We’ll tell you what to expect for your finish.

Sealers can make it smoother. Anti-slip additives in the sealer help, and exposed aggregate is naturally grippy. Tell us where it’s going and we’ll recommend a finish.

Yes — we’ll show you standard color and pattern samples, and can special-order less common options if you have something specific in mind.
